After you receive your beauty pair, you naturally want to enjoy them for as long as possible. All mums know this all along, of course, but here are some tips from us.
- Cold washing
- Do not iron, do dry
- Keep your socks flat
- Wash inside out
- Keep the feet together
- Wash by colour
- Do not use bleach
- Buy quality socks
Cold washing is worth its weight in gold
Wash the socks as cold as possible, preferably at up to 30 degrees. This way they will keep their shape nicely and not shrink.
Do not iron, do dry
No idea who has time to iron socks, but we want to say it anyway: don't iron your socks. What you may do is let them dry on a drying rack. Do not put them in the dryer, they will fade faster and may shrink.
Keep your socks flat
Perhaps this sounds crazy, but keeping your socks flat is better for form. Crumpling them up in a ball or folded together will cause them to get out of shape.
Wash inside out
This way, the sweat from your sweaty feet is carried nicely through the washing machine. It is also less likely to tarnish the print.
Keep the feet together
If you are not careful for a moment, your washing machine will eat your favourite pair just like that. No one wants to be alone, including your socks. Use a laundry bag for your socks and your socks will live happily ever after (together).
Wash by colour
You probably try to separate your laundry into colours and whites as much as possible. Do the same with socks, don't throw your beautiful white pair with the green and blue pairs.
Don't be a layman, don't use bleach
Bleach and socks are the biggest enemies. They tarnish the yarn which will eventually result in holes in your socks. No one wants that.
Always buy quality
Quality socks will last for years, especially if you apply the tips above. Socks with a higher percentage of cotton, such as Sokkies (>80%), are comfortable for a long time.
In a nutshell
Long story short: wash cold and use as little heat as possible. Treat your socks with love, they will do the same back for your feet.
