How do we choose the right yarn colours for the socks?

16 September 2026 Style & trendsTips & Advice

Your brand style on socks – fantastic, right? But how do we make sure the colours match as closely as possible? We are happy to find the best yarns to suit your brand colours. Here is how that process works.

Can you match our colours exactly?

No, but we will explain it to you in full.

Good to know in advance: socks are not printed matter. We cannot match the yarns exactly to CMYK, RGB or PMS colour codes. Matching digital colours to a natural material like cotton is only possible to a certain extent.

How does Sokkies ensure the best possible yarn colours?

When you submit your request, we always ask for as many files and as much documentation as possible. These can be logos, colour codes or complete brand kits. The more information, the better. If you have PMS colour codes, great. If not, we take the colour codes from the design ourselves and convert them to the closest PMS colours.

We approximate the PMS colour codes with our yarns. The emphasis is on approximate: due to the nature of the material, the colour will never match exactly!

Why can the colour differ?

We have more than 6,000 yarn colours at our disposal, including a permanent stock.
We will always pick the best possible shade for each design.
However, sometimes there is simply no better colour (available).

I would like to be sure that my socks have the best possible colour.

We understand, which is why we have created a number of ‘safety nets’:

  1. Physical sample pair: Before everything goes into mass production, you can receive a physical sample pair of your design. The delivery time is 3 weeks and the cost is €25. Once you have it, you can still fine-tune the colours and make minor adjustments to the design.
  2. Choosing your own yarn: Together with our dyeing specialist, we have put together a digital yarn book of the 6,000+ available colours. You can request this digital yarn book free of charge and choose the right yarn colours based on your brand identity. Please note: the digital display is not an exact representation of the cotton.

If you do not use these safety nets, you cannot make any claims about colour deviations afterwards.

Conclusion

Socks are socks, not flyers or brochures. Because of the nature of the product and the ‘limited’ range of yarns, colours will always differ slightly. We will always put together the best possible colour scheme based on your brand identity. A physical sample pair or choosing the yarn colours yourself can help with this.
